Still around. I've been negligent in my postings to LJ.

Since my last round of postings:

-Got a new job
-Relocated due to said new job
-Currently transitioning, haven't had time to post

Hoping my place sells soon so I can turn my attention to the next chapter in the new surroundings.

It'll be nice to get a fresh start in a new place. There's something really very liberating about that.
I'll hang onto the good times/memories (Which seemed to occur early and less often as the years went by) but will be glad to leave behind too much else.

Not sure what lay ahead but well, here goes nothing.....again....

Made a run to a recycling place today in Hopkins. Spring cleaning is in full force and with a mounting pile of used car parts, oil filers, and cans (among many other things) it was time to find a place to take it all. Did a lot of damage this morning, unloading a ton of crap at Express Metals in Hopkins.

Made some $$$ on the side, but most of all, I just wanted this junk gone. I don't know why I didn't do this years ago.

Most stuff I've gotten out has been recycled. Old Computers, parts, displays and printers. Now I just have to hit the paper and plastic side of the equation. Once those are under control, it's going to make things much easier on cleaning.

Hope some of the locals find this helpful. I highly recommend going if you have a lot of junk to unload. The more you bring in, the more cash you get. Just remember to stop by the cashier's window after you get your receipt for your spent goods.

Came across this tidbit on the Dome (Probably better locally known as the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome) today in the Star Tribune.

We knew a new stadium for the Queens was coming but we didn't know where it was going or when construction would start until today.

I've only ever heard about how bad a place it was to watch sports (As is often the case around here....people tend too be critical of most things which is F*&^ing annoying). I only have good memories. Probably at least a page's worth or so if not more so I'm saving all that until this time next year when it's due to come down.

Knowing this... I very much want to get back there and start snapping pictures/video at some point this year. Doesn't really have to be for a Queens or Goofers game, I just want to record it for history sake.

Just like when Met Stadium went down for the now seated Mall of America in Bloomington, the page turns again in downtown Minneapolis next year.

Got the ol' thought pot cookin' for possible road adventures this summer.
Solstice (my Cobalt) is very shortly going to be all mine and to celebrate I want to take her somewhere new.

I'm thinking about setting my sights toward Canada this time, but not sure (Found my passport). Want to keep it in state, maybe tickle the Dakotas otherwise. I've got ideas. And I want to camp it all too. Hopefully follow some local history along the way. We'll see.

More to come down the road.

The Killer

Today, baseball lost a legend. From a Senator to Twin to Royal, killer represented why we love the game and why we keep coming back for more.
We'll miss you big guy. Crush a homer this way, when you get the chance.

Time has come for another long over due trek to the arctic tundra that is the frozen Minnesota North. Today marks the start of the 32nd annual Eelpout Festival in Walker, MN. It's a very festive atmosphere centered around celebrating and catching the elusive Eelpout fish. As the story goes, the Eelpout get their name from their appearance; Eel-like body and puffy, pouty fish lips. They also spawn and are only active at this time of year here. People come from as far away as Georgia and beyond just for this festival. This year, rumor has it Jay Leno is in town with his camera crew filming the event for his show. These fish know how to draw a crowd these days. For those who haven't seen, this should help explain everything:

Some footage from pouters of yesteryear:

Kent Hrbek and ESPN field reporters on The Eelpout 500 and more:

This is our first Pout festival. Will get video and pics (and stories?) to share later.

I happened across this story on Yahoo! out of Wisconsin.

Check out the little old lady from Milwaukee & her 1964 Mercury Comet with over 560K miles clocked and still going. That's just downright awesome. I love it. Keep on truckin grandma!

Have a good Friday and weekend.
