This post is for local friends who need a hand finding employment.
Hennepin Tech is hosting a workshop for job prep next week. The theme is: "Creating a successful Job Search in Today's Economy" The Flyer is here with the info and the Breakout session list here (Both require Adobe Reader).

I know they host job fairs also but I haven't heard when one of those will be at this time. I see no mention that this is only for currently enrolled students so unless I'm mistaken this is for anyone interested.

My shameless plug for the day.

That's the hope anyway.
Hoping certain things will finally start happening in my life.
If nothing else to lay the foundation for said things to happen.

Hey I need to give a shout out to [info]zackfig. Happy Birthday! :3
And to anyone else I missed recently.
I'm bad that way. -_-

I turn 28 today.
I'll pretty much be spending it at work and on the road...again.....

I can't wait till Thursday night. 3 straight days of no work, responsibilities and pure relaxation. It's long over due.

As a golfer I can't believe this: A dude gets 2 holes-in-one in the same round.

I can barely find the damn green most times.

I've come close a couple times. Still wondering if/when it will ever happen for me or someone I know or play with.

Well....we're not.

=P

Now that the obligatory used line is out of the way, I'm back safe and sound in Minnesota.

Being away for 4 1/2 days really made me appreciate my home.
It was a great time in KC and KS and I'm looking forward to returning someday.

I also got the chance to clear my head and reflect alittle. That was good too.

The crappy thing is I have to head for bed and hit the ground running again in the morning. Heading up to LF for the last family golf outing of the season.

No rest for the weary traveler.

I'll do a better update later.

I'm in a training session as I write this, but finished my exercise early.

Today is supposed to be the heaviest work day on schedule. We'll see.

Had the tour of Perceptive Software today (site of our training). I wish our work places where like this place. It's the kind of work place you read about in the magazine.

Kansas is awesome. The plains don't get much love these days. It's not all about the geography as it is the environment/people.

Tonight we are going to the famous rib place and to see Arrowhead and Kaufman (the "K") Stadium.

Class is again in session. More later.

Just a quick entry from my room at the hotel in Shawnee Mission, KS.

As the title of this entry suggests, the trip was interesting.
As expected the 90 minute flight time went by super fast. Though my coworkers and I spent longer in the plane due to being called back to the terminal (Already while idling on the runway) to have their electrical system looked at before taking off.

The plane was small. Much smaller then I'm used to. Shaky starting out but we made it into KCI ok. Travel on Sunday seems to be much less stressful.

Tomorrow at 9 is our first training session. I hope it goes well.
So far the trip is getting off on the right foot.

I got my own room after all. Our party got a Toyota Sienna for the ride around town.

More later.

This weekend was definitely a packed and memorable one for me.

LAN weekend updates )

Sunday..
[info]warskunk,[info]yarrick and I went to the Science Museum (My first visit since it moved from it's old location) in St. Paul to take in the Pompeii exhibit as well as the "Secrets of Greece" movie at the Omni Theater.

A truly remarkable experience to say the least.
I knew the story of Pompeii going in. But I wasn't prepared for the impact I would be left with or the thoughts that would remain thereafter. To see casts preserved for over two millennium of people at their moment of death when Vesuvius erupted is something you can't really easily find words for. You wonder how they lived and what they did or even..what might they have been thinking in their final moments?

The rise and fall of ancient Greece was interesting as well. I went to that to get a little more depth in research for a character I have from that era as well as general interest. Although the two events are separate in time and nature, it's observed that Greek influence (particularly in the arts) found it's way to Pompeii and greater Italy of the day.

And as we left the Museum something occurred to me...
Although our society may never meet a fate similar to that of Pompeii, one thing I believe is certain... There will come a day where our cars, computers, art, literature, etc etc will be on display for someone else to wonder what life was like for us.

I don't work in or around Downtown so I'm good. Sounds like friends and family are as well.

Myself and everyone I know have been over this bridge several times and can't believe this happened.

Or CNN or wherever.

Thoughts and prayers to those looking for loved ones. =(

As if things couldn't get any worse today.

I really honestly can't find the right words on something like this.

Cutting right to the chase..

I can't really say why I acted on a whim, deciding to see the Transformers movie tonight. Perhaps it was the hope to avoid what I was thinking might end up being a busy movie week (with many having the 4th off), wanting to just get it out of the way and not have to listen to everyone else's reviews before hand, or perhaps it was the inner child saying "...Go.....Now..."

I remembered a time once when I had all my transformers and watched the movie like a religion as a little squirt.

All I will say is this...
Satisfy your inner child. He/she will thank you.

Very much.

Yesterday I moved my art table downstairs next to my computers. This is good because with a little rearranging I can chat and draw and listen to music comfortably in one place.

Also yesterday my cousin and I dug out and dusted off my old SNES for kicks and decided it would be fun to play an old game we never got around to finishing back in the day called Drakkhen. It's a 16 year old RPG game for the SNES that was among the first of it's kind to pioneer the 3D layout/battle environment and the real time Day-Night cycle. To most it would probably get redundant after awhile but for us it's the perfect lounge around idle brained game. To me, there's a certain mystique that goes along with playing the old school classics.

I decided to get a start on the short list of repairs my car has coming.
I figure if they are spread out enough and nothing is absolutely urgent then I can deal with it.

I've found a solution to the stressful work stuff so that's awesome. Things should be a little less stressful for now.

I'm typing up a little something quick while waiting for the Lenovo tech to show up to work on a few laptops.

It's been a super busy few days. I'm under the gun to complete a multi Network card template boot disk for Symantec Ghost for the new computers we are getting in. Soon enough, we will have an urgent need for this. So far 1 out of 3 computers boots up fine.

It seems I missed out on a massive Zombie outbreak.
That would have been fun to blog about. Ah well.

Expecting new computer parts today.

I also must remember to get quotes for work to be done for our town home association.

Also it's game on tomorrow. My pal Chad and his squeez Ange are stopping up this weekend for a Twins game and [info]warskunk and myself are planning to attend.

Do I dare mention the A word in this entry?
Not till I have something to show for it.
